Maine Cottage wicker is made of natural materials. It is not an all-weather outdoor product. We recommend keeping your Maine Cottage wicker inside or on a covered porch. If you do place your wicker outside on a covered porch you must expect it to experience standard wear and tear due to the elements that are unique to outdoor living areas.
In an effort to properly care for your wicker, it's important to never leave it in the heat or humidity for extended periods of time. Keep your wicker shaded to prevent damage caused by dryness due to excessive heat. The sun is an extremely harsh element so keeping all furniture and fabrics out of direct sunlight is essential to prevent fading and deterioration. Keep your wicker out of the rain to prevent moisture damage and paint from peeling or cracking. If your wicker gets wet, never sit on it or allow anyone else to sit on it. Wet reeds can bend, and weight can cause irreparable damage. If you are not using the furniture, please take care to bring the cushions inside. The cushion core is not designed for outdoor exposure. In high humidity and moisture, the cushions will have a tendency to mildew a bit over time if not properly cared for. Appropriate care will keep your wicker looking good for many years to come.
How to Clean and Care for Your Wicker: Care for your wicker furniture by wiping the surface with a soft damp cloth. Vacuum the cushions on a regular basis using a soft brush attachment.
